Playing video games for 1 hour each day could have a positive impact on the emotional and psychological development of children.

A new study, published in the journal Pediatrics, suggests that children and adolescents who spend less than an hour a day with video games adapt better than those who never play or those who play more frequently.

The data of more than 5000 boys and girls between 10 and 15 years old who were asked about their playing habits, psychological state and their social relationships were analyzed. 75% of the children and adolescents interviewed played video games daily.

The researchers found that young people who spent a short period of time (1/3 of their free time) with video games were more sociable and more likely to be satisfied with their lives. While those who spent more than 3 hours a day with video games or those who did not play never adapted worse. It appears that playing video games in moderation improves social interaction, emotional problems and reduces hyperactivity in children.
